Digital Energy Solutions to acquire Cologne-based technology provider ATHION


Munich / Cologne, April 18, 2018

Digital Energy Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Munich, has acquired ATHION GmbH, a provider of digital energy services. Operating as a wholly owned subsidiary, ATHION will reinforce the product and solution competency of Digital Energy Solutions to ensure leading-edge energy management and innovative energy supply concepts. The merger contributes to the shared goal of both companies to show their customers the opportunities and potential of the energy transition and offer relevant solutions.

In recent years, the Cologne-based technology provider has supported renowned industrial companies and energy suppliers in the digitization and management of their energy systems. The IT system developed by ATHION combines the latest IT technologies with proven concepts of energy technology. The application of innovative artificial intelligence methods enables the reduction of energy management complexity. In addition, improvements in cost effectiveness and enhanced system stability as well as the ability to respond faster to external market signals result in competitive advantages. As such, ATHION’s analysis and optimization solutions complement existing storage and charging technology solutions, driving the product roadmap and facilitating IT competency building across Digital Energy Solutions.

Working together to push the energy transition across sectors
